Welcome to Ludlow Concert Band, Ludlow, South Shropshire Website!
The Concert Band was formed to enable local players to play and rehearse together and provide the town once again with a band to be proud of.
free to join, no subs to pay
The wind band idea was to enable a wider number of players to be able to play and is a very versatile ensemble. Brass and wind together creates a lovely combination.
Younger as well as experienced players are welcome to rehearse and play out as long as players have a basic understanding of reading music of at least grade 2 they can join. We have a number of vacancies. It is an excellent way of improving a players skills. For anyone wishing to learn an instrument or join the band there are a number of instruments available in stock for the purpose of lending to players. If you are interested in this please contact us.
As the band is in its early stages, easy arrangements are being used. This helps developing bands.
A relaxed atmosphere is encouraged to make rehearsals enjoyable, although players are expected to join in and play with the rest of the group.
A joint concert with 2 local male voice choirs is now in the pipeline, 12th June 2010 at St Johns Church, Ludlow. The concert proceeds are to go to the Church.
The band has been well supported locally with donations been given as well as support from the Local MP (Mr Dunne). The British Legion have also offered support and are providing a room free for workshops.
Rehearsals are open to all ages, players must be a least of a grade 2 standard.
It is free to participate as there are no subs for members, and costs are kept to a minimum. Donations are welcome. We have had a number of donations from organisations such as Ludlow Town Council, Ludlow Food Hall, Liberal Democrats and the Town Centre Residents Association.
As well as regular rehearsals, workshops have also been arranged such as the Beginners Clarinet Workshop, which has been kindly supported by the Ludlow Branch of The Royal British Legion.
