The Ludlow Concert Band is a wind band for local musicians to rehearse together and play out at concerts and community events. There are currently 15 members of the band and it is growing. The conductor Colin Reeves Bmus, LRAM, ARCO.
The Band performs a wide repertoire of music ranging from pop, light classical, show tunes and traditional music. Concerts vary depending on the venue and the band may engage supporting soloists or join forces with local choirs. For concerts the full band is usually used but for certain special occasions a smaller band may be provided.
Younger as well as experienced players are welcome to rehearse and play out as long as players have a basic understanding of reading music of at least grade 2 they can join. Membership is free, if you are interested in joining (click here)
We have a number of vacancies. For anyone wishing to learn an instrument or join the band we have instruments available in stock for the purpose of lending to players. If you are interested in this please contact us.
The band has been well supported locally with donations been given as well as support from the Local MP (Mr Dunne). The British Legion have also offered support and have provided a room free for workshops. and for summer rehearsals. The Town Council also gives an annual grant.
Great News * The band was recently awarded £940 from Shropshire Council LJC towards music and uniforms.
